Reserve Bank of India (RBI) in their periodical monetary policy review meetings do reiterate that interest rate cuts, which are normally awaited more by the business community and the retail consumers alike to access less costlier funds, would depend predominantly on the inflation situation in the economy. Continuing high inflation in the range of 9% during the year 2011 cast its tentacles on the projected economic growth.
